Barbara D. Wilson, MD
Dr. Barbara D. Wilson is a Professor of Dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Dermatology Associate Residency Program Director. She received her medical education at the University of Minnesota and then completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. Her dermatology residency was completed at the University of Minnesota where she remained as faculty for several years. Before joining MCW as full time faculty and Program Director in 2007, she enjoyed many years of private practice in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee.
Dr. Wilson is a dedicated clinician who is interested in providing quality care to adult ambulatory and inpatient dermatology patients, especially those with challenging or complex medical diseases at Froedtert Hospital /Clinics and at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues at MCW, referring physicians, and primary care doctors to coordinate the best care for her patients. In addition, she encourages the full participation of patients and their families in their care and strives to communicate clearly with them around their important decisions.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wilson is very involved in teaching activities including directing dermatology resident education at the Medical College of Wisconsin, teaching residents and students at the “bedside”, and participating in graduate medical educational activities on campus. She is active in planning regional CME meetings for dermatologists and teaching primary care doctors through clinic instruction, CME lectures , re-certification courses and publications for primary care doctors.
Finally, Dr. Wilson is very interested in quality improvement for our Department as a PSQO (Patient Safety and Quality Officer). She is involved in efforts to continually improve the quality and safety of our care.
